CRAICLY STORIES & Historic Houses of Ireland (HHI) are collaborating through 2025 with a series of storytelling events hosted by member properties through 2025. The events within these homes will celebrate layers of stories of the house, but importantly the area, the county the townlands and the people within them. The Big House in Ireland is of important significance, and this tour look forward to blending these social histories through fun, celebratory storytelling evenings. Ireland is a country of great and fascinating architectural and social history.
Historic Houses of Ireland is an association whose purpose it is to both safeguard and promote the culture and heritage from these properties. With a whole rebirth in recent years of new property owners, the stories are growing and growing and this tour is a wonderful way to open the door on that to new guests.

Opening the Doors!
The fascinating Octagonal Hunting Lodge in Castlecor House, Longford (pictured here) is just one of the many gorgeous, historical spaces within the portfolio of the Historic Houses of Ireland. Administrator in HHI, Mary, pictured, works with all the member families and is part of a personable, professional, close-knit team who endeavour to support the preservation, protection, growth and future of these homes.
Our CRAICLY tour for 2025 will visit ten properties, culminating in the HHI Autumn School Festival to take place in October. Some of these homes are fully private, some are residential and some are in early stages of hosting events to members of the public. Many have been recently bought and are being nurtured back to life by new families, some have been cared for by multi-generational families. This is a new stage for all of them with the new HHI partnership with Airbnb and the 2023 launch of the annual the Autumn School Festival held in alternating houses every October.
Our story tour is one more step towards the local and national community involvement and enjoyment and pride in these beautiful spaces.

INTERESTED TO TELL A STORY ON THE HHI & CRAICLY TOUR?
CRAICLY storytellers are key to these events! We always invite storyteller participation in all of our events, and arrange the stories in advance. Some of our tellers have done this before, some have not! The essence of a good story is in the want to tell it - and as social story curators, we are hugely excited to all of those who would like to participate.
We take these submission via our Submission Form where you can see all our upcoming events, or submit a general application. This applies for the whole HHI tour also - so any local stories from the region, fond memories, personal tales, family legends, characters you remember, experiences you may have had in any of the HHI houses, people you know who contributed to them - you name it - we want to hear it!!!!
We typically have about six storytellers for each event, and provide some guidance and help individually on what to expect and how to prepare for them.
